What is primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

Our team is looking for a rock star data analyst and visualization expert. This role will provide IT leaders with reporting, analysis, viz design and analytical support using VMware's internal IT support data. This role is also responsible for the receiving, uploading, and data reconciliation activities for data received.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• Create cross-product dashboards, reports and metrics that highlight colleague usage across the VMware IT product/tool/service stack
• You will support other IT teams in their product usage analysis to improve products and optimize product/service roadmaps.
• Develop deep knowledge of VMware's IT data assets, develop common cross-product data aggregate views for use by multiple teams
• You will partner with and develop strong relationships with cross-functional analytics teams across the department
• To be successful, you will actively develop business understanding and analytic subject matter expertise in IT Product Usage data domains.
• Demonstrate experience working with business intelligence/reporting systems such as Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Business Objects, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint and other Office products.
• Development of data mining, data collection processes and data management system
• Strong analytical skills with ability to collect, organize, analyze significant amounts of information and massive datasets (expertise in SQL and DBMS)
• Assist in scoping and designing analytic projects and solutions, bringing in and testing innovative ideas for out-of-box solutions
• Developing report/models and batch queries for data using scripting languages such as SQL, R, Python.
• Create and deliver accurate, detailed, timely and user-friendly reports and dashboards with interpretation and insights
• Use the reports and dashboards to tell a story with the data, simplifying the complexity and demonstrating the business impact when presenting to a broader team
• Recommendations based on data driven insights for improvements to the employee experience
• Understand the business goals and colleague benefit to collaborate with stakeholders to explore, generate and test business assumptions

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

- Bachelor of Technology and Engineering degree or higher degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Applied Math or equivalent preferred

- Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in data analytics role, preferably with technology support data

- Deep expertise with Python, DBMS, SQL, Tableau, Power BI and other Data Visualization and automation tools

- The ability to drill into data, find and fix data issues and debug into anomalies is expected

- Experience using Excel, Python, R and other mechanisms to cleanse and aggregate data

- Knowledge of machine learning techniques, experience with R etc. is a plus

- Comfortable working independently while dealing with large data sets and mining them for useful insights

- Comfortable working with business leaders and other analytics teams to come up with focused action plans after analyzing data in context
