Position Summary

The College of Business, School of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems ( AFIS ) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE ), 9-month, Tenure Track (Annual) Assistant or Associate Professor position.

The School of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems ( AFIS ) is part of the College of Business ( COB ). The College of Business offers a full spectrum of undergraduate and graduate programs, and teaching assignments may include both undergraduate and graduate courses in Business Information Systems. Expectations include:
• High quality teaching and scholarly activities that result in publications in leading peer-refereed journals.
• At the Assistant Professor level, candidates are expected to establish a program of research/scholarship that leads to timely promotion in rank and the granting of indefinite tenure, with evidence for continued research and scholarly publication. At the Associate Professor level, candidates should have an established and on-going research program resulting in high-impact scholarly publications.
• Engagement in service activities in the School, College, University and the Profession.
• Faculty are expected to be collegial and supportive members of the unit and to exhibit a code of behavior appropriate to a professional educator.
• Leadership in activities appropriate to the position duties.

COB academic faculty teaching assignments may include course delivery in any format; i.e., in-person, online, hybrid.

Position Duties

45% Teaching (40% for Associate Professor level): primary teaching duties include teaching courses in Oregon State University’s Business Information Systems program in in-person, online and/or hybrid format.

45% Scholarship (40% for Associate Professor level): demonstrated through the successful dissemination of research results, including but not limited to peer-refereed scholarly journals. Other contributions may be considered.

10% Service (20% for Associate Professor level): engagement in activities both in the University and the profession, and contributing to the College and University strategic initiatives.

Minimum/Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in field appropriate to position duties.

*For the Assistant Professor rank, evidence of potential for research and scholarly publications in leading Information Systems journals.

For the Associate Professor rank, applicants must be tenurable with an appropriate record of premier-level publications.*

Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver courses at the University-level in the Information Systems field.

Practical or teaching experience covering at least two of the following Business Information Systems:
• Information systems governance and security
• Enterprise information systems and enterprise information services
• Data management and system development
• Telecomm and networking
• Business Analytics; e.g., data visualization and exploration, data analysis, text mining, etc.

A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

A record that includes work recently accepted for publication in premier Business Information Systems or Management Information Systems journals.

Course design and delivery experience, with full course responsibilities at the University level, across multiple modalities (i.e. face-to-face, online, hybrid).

Demonstrated ability to develop strong linkages with the business community and/or have relevant professional non-academic work experience.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

This position requires a clear and unambiguous commitment to compliance of all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations for Division I (FBS) universities.
